These iconic Indian bell jar pendant hundi lanterns harken back to the simpler times of the 19th century. The artisanal hand blown glass of these handi pendant lights radiate light through your home. When paired with a classic Edison bulb (see pictures) these lights bring a contemporary, yet traditional chic to a room.
These glass lamps are known in India as Handis or Hundis - originally named after a cooking pot. Originally made in Europe and exported to India as lighting for large homes and palaces in the 19th century candles or oil lamps would have been placed inside with a glass lid to prevent soot from marking the ceiling. Many survived on the tall ceilings unlike their European counterparts which were taken down and smashed when electricity arrived.
Each piece is wired & tested by our team in the UK. Please note glass may have small imperfections.
